Please be aware that the Mikme OS (software or operating system) for your Mikme Microphone is still in BETA. This means it is still under development.
Please backup your recorded data to you computer before you update your Mikme OS Bootloader.
1 – Connect your Mikme to your computer via USB cable
Read this article if you don't know how to connect your microphone to your computer.
Use the included USB cable to connect your Mikme.
Open the Mikme external storage icon in your Explorer/Finder
to access the files in your Mikmes root folder.
2 – Check your Mikme OS Bootloader version
Open the Version.jsn file you can find in the root folder of your Mikme.
Use a TextEdit App to open the Version.jsn file.
It should basically look like this:
In this example the Mikme OS Bootloader version (BLMB) is "0.7".
3 – What is your Mikme OS Bootloader version?
If your Mikme OS Bootloader version is 0.7
Then you have the latest Bootloader version.
NO need to update the Bootloader. You don't have to proceed further here.
You are fine.
Now check if you have the latest Mikme OS installed.
Please follow these steps next www.mikme.com/update
If your Mikme OS Bootloader version is LOWER than 0.7
Then you need to update your Bootloader.
Follow on with step 4 – download the latest Bootloader.
4 – Download the Mikme OS Bootloader files
Click the link below and save the Mikme OS Bootloader (software or operating system) file for your Mikme Microphone to your computer:

5 – Prepare your Mikme
Turn your Mikme Microphone on (left Power button on backside of your Mikme).
Connect your Mikme with the USB cable that came with your Mikme to your computer.
Mikme's top capture LED will flash orange (it can take up to 10 seconds until the top capture LED flash orange).
Now you should see your Mikme mounted as an external storage on your computer's file explorer.
Backup all your recordings of your Mikme Microphone.
Copy all files from your Mikme Microphone onto your computer.Unzip the file Mikme OS 0_41.zip you just downloaded:
Mikme OS bootloader (Version 0.41)
6 – Important
DO NOT disconnect Mikme at any time while updating.
This update process consists of 2 steps:
Update step 1 – Update the Bootloader
Update step 2 – Update the Bootmanager
Update step 1 – Update the Bootloader
Follow these instructions to update the Bootloader of your Mikme Microphone.
You should see the Mikme mounted as an external storage on your computer's file explorer.
Open the folder
/Mikme OS 0_41/Update_Step1/
and copy the 2 files
bf000008.mkm and ff990000.mkm
onto your Mikme's root folder.
Eject Mikme from your computer.
Use the eject button of your computer's file explorer.
DO NOT disconnect the USB cable that connects Mikme with your computer.
Mikme should automatically restart — this means the update has been completed.
If the Mikme DOES NOT automatically power on:
Turn your Mikme Microphone on (left Power button on backside of your Mikme).
If the Mikme DOES automatically power on:
Now Mikme will perform the update — this should take about 1 minute.
The top LED of the Mikme will blink blue and green while updating.
Then, Mikme will restart automatically.
Now, Mikme will perform an update again — this should take about 1 minute.
The top LED of the Mikme will blink pink and turquoise while the update is active.
Wait until the Mikme top LED starts blinking pink with a SOS pattern
(3 short, 3 long, 3 short pink blinks).
Now Mikme will show up again as an external storage on your computer.
Proceed with Update step 2 – Update the Bootmanager
Update Step 2 – Update the Bootmanager
Follow these instructions to update the Bootmanager of your Mikme Microphone.
You should see the Mikme mounted as an external storage on your computer's file explorer (it can take up to 10 seconds until the top capture LED flash orange).
Open the folder
/Mikme OS 0_41/Update_Step2/
and copy the file
ff0041BM.mkm
onto your Mikme's root folder.Eject Mikme from your computer (use the eject button of your computers file explorer).
DO NOT disconnect the USB cable which connects Mikme with your computer.
Now Mikme will perform the update — it takes about 1 minute.
The top LED of the Mikme will blink blue and green while the updating.
Wait until the Mikme restarts automatically.
If the top LED of your Mikme is white again then the update was done successfully.
The Mikme OS Bootloader version should now be 0.7
3 – Now update to latest Mikme OS version
